SZABIST is developing a 100 MW Wind Farm in Dhabeji, Gharo District of
province Sindh in Pakistan. The project will be implemented in two phases
i.e. 50 MW each. REEE has developed the feasibility study for the first
phase of the project i.e. 50 MW. However the calculations for the 100
MW wind farm have been made as well.
Gharo area has been selected for implementing the project on the basis
of its exceptional wind regime, flat terrain and proximity to the National
and local grid.
The electricity generated from the 50 MW wind farm will be sold to Central
Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) of Pakistan using 132kV transmission line
to the nearest grid station. In line with the Policy for Development of
Renewable Energy for Power Generation 2006, of Pakistan, the tariff for
this project is based on a cost plus basis. The Energy Purchase Agreement
(EPA) would be signed with the CPPA for a project life of 20 years. |
